Put Your Feet Up Wednesday is here!!!
Every Wednesday, I try to pause for about one hour and do nothing productive for anyone other than re-investing some energy into myself! Sometimes it is tea with old friends or poking through thrift shops. This week is all about mountain air!
Time to relax while relaxing. Sounds redundant? Easy? Simple? Or really hard? During my kitchen remodel I escaped with the kids to a relaxing cabin in the woods. The cell phone service is terrible (but don’t worry there is a local land line in case of emergencies), there is wi fi, lots of fresh air, chirping birds and sunshine. Oh and did I mention Lake Tahoe is here too? Time to simply let go and relax.
Relaxing has been tougher than it seems. I’m so used to being busy, I was “busy” organizing up relaxing and scheduling our relaxing time. Then my son said it best, “mom, we don’t have to go to the beach everyday.”
What? Blasphemy! That boy is confused I thought. Where did I go wrong?
But…then he suggested all of us napping, playing a board game and cooking dinner together. Ah, I got it finally. It’s not about the environment or sitting on the edge of gorgeous Lake Tahoe that relaxes us, (but darn it, it helps). It is the simple act of slowing down and taking a deep peaceful breath in and truly enjoying what is right smack in front of us.
Of course, we’ll be slowing down tomorrow at the beach. For today, we will breathd deep, play Monopoly, cook dinner and watch a TV show together-without even considering that beautiful Lake.
